The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has charged Senator Stella Oduah, the former Minister of Aviation, with eight counts of document fabrication and conspiracy to commit a felony, among other offenses.
On behalf of the Federal Government, the agency filed the charges against the former Anambra North Senator at the Federal High Court, Abuja Judicial Division, on June 26, 2023.
The complaint was brought in Benin City, the Edo State capital, by Ochugwu Ogbeh W.A. and Ibrahim Mohammed of the EFCC’s Legal and Prosecution Department.

The complaint designated the Federal Government of Nigeria as the Complainant and Oduah as the sole Defendant.
She was also accused of forwarding the credential to INEC in 2018, “among which are an affidavit and police report that you lost your National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Certificate the representation you know to be false which led to your re-election as a Senator for the second term Representing Anambra North Senatorial District and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 157 of the Penal Code Act and punishable under Section 158 (1) of the same Act.”
According to news reports, the NYSC revealed in May 2022 that Oduah did not finish the mandatory one-year NYSC training.
This was revealed in a letter labeled NYSC/DHQ/PPRU/783/Vol III, which was sent in response to a query from the Concerned Anambra North PDP Stakeholders.

The organization had written to the NYSC, saying that some agency officials conspired with Oduah to conceal the truth.
The scheme stated in a statement signed by the Director of Press and Public Relations on behalf of the Director-General of the programme that Oduah began her NYSC programme in 1982 but absconded.
The NYSC also denied working along with the former aviation minister to conceal the truth.
