Ohanaeze Visits Alaba Market, Makes Promise To Igbo Traders Who Lost Their Shops

Following the demolition of various buildings by the Lagos State Government, the Igbo socio-cultural organization Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide paid a visit to the Alaba International Market.

Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, the group’s President General, reportedly paid a fact-finding visit to the market in Lagos for an on-the-spot evaluation of the tragedy that befell the Igbo vendors in the Alaba market.

The organisation revealed in a statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Dr Chiedozie Alex Ogbonnia, that Iwuanyanwu visited the market to commiserate with the affected businessmen.

According to Ogbonnia, the group president pledged to form a committee to investigate the incident.

Iwuanyanwu expressed tremendous sorrow about the magnitude and cost of the demolitions, as well as the massive loss of valuables.

He praised the Igbo spirit of hard labor, tenacity, innovation, entrepreneurship, and resilience, and promised the traders that they would overcome the current problems with the help of the Almighty.

He urged the Igbo traders to be calm and upbeat, promising them that he will fight any type of injustice against any Igbo, anywhere and at any time.

The Ohanaeze President, on the other hand, extended his gratitude to the hundreds of Ndigbo who came out to greet him and the Ohanaeze delegation.
