Charles Oputa, commonly known as Charly Boy, a veteran Nigerian singer, has reacted to President Bola Tinubu’s warning to the tribunal about invalidating his victory in the February 25 presidential election.
According to news reports, Tinubu delivered a warning about the probable implications of annulling the election that elected him president.
He warned that a judgment based on his failure to secure 25% of the legitimate votes in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) might lead to absurdity, disorder, anarchy, and a distortion of the legislature’s original meaning.
This was said by the president when delivering his last written address to the Presidential Election Petition Court (PEPEC) on petitions submitted by candidates from the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar challenging the validity of his victory.
Charly Boy, responding to Tinubu’s warning on Twitter, questioned why the president was giving threats after urging the opposition to go to court.
He wrote, “So after threatening the judiciary on camera, u wan still come dey threaten Nigerians with chaos & anarchy?
“Well all I know is nobody get monopoly of violence.
“Removing me as president over failure to score 25% in Abuja may trigger anarchy in Nigeria,
