The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) are meeting with Federal Government leaders at Aso Rock, Abuja, in the Chief of Staff Conference Hall, as part of the Presidential Steering Committee on Palliatives.
Remember that last Friday, organized labor representatives abruptly left a meeting, citing unhappiness that no high-ranking government officials were available for bargaining.
The aim of that failed meeting, as well as the one that is still happening, is to examine progress from three subcommittees: mass transit, the Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) committee, and the cash transfer committee.

These committees are working on plans offered by the government to reduce the impact of the subsidy elimination.
NLC President Comrade Joe Ajaero, TUC leader Festus Osifo, NLC General Secretary Comrade Emma Ugbaja, and TUC Secretary Nuhu Toro are among those present. Other members of the organized labor delegation, including Prof. Sam Amadi, are also present.
The President’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, the Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Labour and Employment, Kachollom Daju, the CEO of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), Mele Kyari, and the President’s Special Adviser on Energy, Olu Verheijen are among those in attendance from the government.
