Malam Nasir El-Rufai, the immediate past governor of Kaduna State, has been vetted for nomination as a minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Remember that El-Rufai was one of the 28 ministerial nominees forwarded to the Senate by President Bola Tinubu in a letter handed by his Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, last week.

El-Rufai took the podium on Tuesday and quickly ran through his curriculum vitae before answering a few queries from MPs about his chances of becoming a minister.

According to news sources, there was a noisy session while El-Rufai was being screened, as a politician raised a petition against the former governor..

The senator who initiated the petition was met with opposition from his colleagues, who urged Senate President Godswill Akpabio to allow El-Rufai to take a bow and leave.

For a brief while, the session became raucous, and El-Rufai, who had planned to react to the supposed petition, was urged to take a bow and leave as senators insisted the petitioner convey his plea via the correct channel.

They insisted that the session was simply to screen applicants and that all petitions would be considered during confirmation.
