NLC Refutes Tinubu’s N1Trillion Claim On Fuel Subsidy Removal

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has refuted President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s assertions that his administration had saved N1 trillion since the end of the fuel subsidy regime.

According to Anaedoonline.ng, President Tinubu claimed that at least N1 trillion has been saved since the withdrawal of the fuel subsidy during his Monday national broadcast.

“In a little more than two months, we have prevented the wasteful fuel subsidy, which solely benefited smugglers and fraudsters, from going to waste. The Nigerian leader had remarked, “That money will now be used more directly and advantageously for you and your families.

Although the Nigerian government stated that money had been saved from the recent policy, NLC President Comrade Joe Ajaero declared that during the ongoing statewide coordinated labor demonstration.

Ajaero, who co-led the protest to the National Assembly complex in Abuja alongside his counterpart from the Trade Union Congress (TUC), Festus Osifo, said: “Mr President talked about N1trillion saved. The committee when we met, told us that no one kobo has been saved so far. Therefore, we have not agreed on what to pay anywhere.”
