Aisha Yesufu, a human rights activist, responded to a journalist who stated that followers of the Labour Party (LP) should be pleased with Professor Tahir Mamman’s nomination as minister. Mamman is the vice chancellor at the University of the LP vice presidential candidate, Datti Baba-Ahmed.

Mamman was listed on the new ministerial list that President Bola Tinubu unveiled on Wednesday, according to Anaedoonline.ng.

The Nigerian journalist, Gimba Kakande, speculated that Mamman would lead the Ministry of Education in a tweet regarding the two ministerial nominees from Datti’s University.

He wrote: “Baze University’s Tahir Mamman and CcHUB’s Bosun Tijani stand out on this second #ministeriallist. They are exceptional brains in education administration and digital tech development, respectively, based on their antecedents.

“My prediction? Mamman would head the Ministry of Education, and Bosun might lead either the Ministry of Science & Technology or the Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy.

“On a lighter note, Obidients should be pleased that the Vice Chancellor of their vice-presidential candidate’s school has been offered a seat at the table”

Aisha responded by saying that Mamman and Bosun are assets to Nigeria and any government, but that the problem isn’t with them not being able to be at the table.

She claims that the fundamental problem is one of procedural integrity and the application of the law.

She wrote: “My brother. These are wonderful people that are great assets to Nigeria and any government that has them definitely has assets but you see, the issue is not about seat at the table. The issue is about the integrity of a process and the rule of law. Otherwise, how can we have the moral justification to question anyone who subvert a system to get whatever result they want?”
