Italy has provided guidance to the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) on what to do now that the deadline for the military junta in the Republic of Niger to restore ousted President Mohamed Bazoum has passed.

Antonio Tajani, the foreign minister of Italy, stated in a brief media interview on Monday that the deadline set for the military junta needs to be extended.

He also hoped that the ECOWAS would pursue diplomatic solutions to the problems rather than resorting to military force.
