The urgent invasion of Niger has been ordered by ECOWAS officials, who have tasked their standby force with restoring the country’s constitutional order.
The peace of Nigeria and other West African nations is threatened, according to President Bola Tinubu, chairman of ECOWAS, by the ongoing political turmoil in the Niger Republic.
At the second special meeting on the sociopolitical situation in the Republic of Niger, held on Thursday in Abuja, this was said.

Presidents of Guinea-Bissau, Senegal, Cote d’Ivoire, Ghana, Benin, Sierra Leone, and Togo were present at the summit, and the foreign ministers of Liberia and the Gambia also attended.

Meanwhile, Niger’s military junta had earlier announced a new government on Thursday, naming Ali Mahaman Lamine Zeine, prime minister, to lead other 21 new ministers forming the new government.
