Man Chaged For Stealing Clothes Worth N5M

Alli Yusuf, 44, was charged with burglary and theft on Friday before a magistrate’s court in the Yaba neighborhood of Lagos State.

Yusuf was charged with breaking into Prince Chuks’ warehouse and stealing two bales of clothing worth N5 million.
Before Magistrate Patrick Nwaka, he was charged with three counts of theft and burglary-related offenses.

Holding a brief for Haruna Magaji, the police prosecutor Thomas Nurudeen informed the court that the defendant committed the crime on August 2, 2023, at Nnamdi Azikwe Street in the state’s Lagos Island region.Before Magistrate Patrick Nwaka, he was charged with three counts of theft and burglary-related.

According to the prosecutor, the offences committed are punishable under Sections 411, 287 and 312 (b) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, Nigeria, 2015.
The charges read in part, “That you, Alli Yusuf, and others now at large, on August 2, 2023, at Nnamdi Azikwe Street, Lagos Island Area of Lagos, in the Lagos Magisterial District, did burgle the warehouse of one Prince Chuks and thereafter stole two bales of clothes, and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 312 (b) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.”

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges preferred against him.
Nwaka granted him bail in the sum of N1m with two sureties in like sum.

The case was adjourned till September 1, 2023, for mention.
