Numerous Nigerien nationals living in Kano State have organised a nonviolent protest against the coup that took place in their country.

Additionally, they endorsed the Economic Community of West African States’ (ECOWAS) sanctions against the nation.

However, the citizens who opposed the military takeover that toppled President Mohamed Bazoum’s democratic administration issued a strong warning against foreign military intervention.

President Mohamed Bazoum, his family, and all other alleged victims who were kidnapped during the military intervention on July 16, 2023, were allegedly released without any conditions, according to the group’s chairman Lawalli Mamman Barma, who led a peaceful protest on Saturday in Kano.

He said, “We demand without condition, the release of the president of Niger Republic, as well as his family and all other kidnapped persons.”

The chairman stressed that discussion is the best method for resolving dispute rather than using military action, while also calling for the restoration of democratic leadership in the Niger Republic and urging ECOWAS to reverse its decision to send military personnel there.
