Bashir Ahmad, a former media advisor to the president, has responded to rumours that Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP), Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and Rabiu Kwankwaso of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) want to unite their parties.

Ahmad mocked the upcoming coalition of powerful leaders.

The trio is reportedly putting the finishing touches on a coalition to depose the All Progressives Congress (APC), which is currently in power, as Anaedoonline.ng previously reported.

The lawmakers in the opposition are considering the prospect of forming an alliance that would allow them to take a strong stance against the APC.

Furthermore, it is acknowledged that the degree of their collaboration is still in its infancy, is being planned in stages, and will also rely on how the 2023 presidential election tribunal, in which President Bola Tinubu’s victory is being contested, turns out. According to ThisDay, the conversation between the leading politicians began with that between Atiku and Kwankwaso.

After the first leg of the talks was deemed successful, another one reportedly began to take shape between Obi and other crucial PDP members after the other two stakeholders decided to include him.

Ahmad claimed in a message on his Twitter account that their cooperation won’t amount to anything in response to reports of a proposed merger. According to him, they were together in 2019 and the APC still came tops.

“Weren’t they together in 2019 when our great party hammered them blue and black?” he queried.
