Osun Residents To Receive 14,516 Bags Of Rice, 3,200MT Maize – Commissioner

The Osun State Government announced on Monday that people will get 3,200MT of corn and 14,516 bags of 50kg rice as part of the federal government’s palliative to lessen the impact of the state’s suspension of the gasoline subsidy.

Assuring transparency in the distribution of food supplies to the citizens, the State Commissioner for Information and Public Engagement, Mr. Kolapo Alimi, made this known in a statement acquired in Osogbo on Monday.

In the same statement, Alimi claimed that the state government would start distributing the 600 bags of rice and corn that make up the second batch of the palliative as soon as the state had received all of the products

The statement partly read, “We hereby wish to inform you that the second batch of federal government food palliative distribution is poised to commence as soon as possible, and you are scheduled to receive 14,516 bags of 50kg rice and 3,200MT of maize.

“The update above is necessary to keep the public abreast of development on the palliative distribution. A truck of 600 bags is still outstanding from the first batch.

“The government wants to ensure full delivery before launching out on the distribution. We assure the public of transparency and accountability in the sharing of the foodstuffs to the citizenry.”
