Ex-NBA President, Akpata Ditch Law Firm To Pursue Political Ambition

Olumide Akpata, a former leader of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), has left his position as Senior Partner at the law firm Templars.

According to a statement from the law firm dated August 24, the former NBA President officially informed the business’s other partners and management of his decision to get involved in active politics.

Akpata stated that his choice to resign is consistent with the firm’s governance guidelines.

Akpata and the company came to an agreement that he will leave the company starting on Thursday, August 31, 2023.

According to the company, he would be able to fully concentrate on his objective of helping to build the nation.

While acknowledging Akpata’s important contribution to the firm’s expansion, the company said its approximately 100 lawyers, who are overseen by 20 other partners and work out of offices in Nigeria and Ghana, will continue to represent the firm’s clients.

Recall that Akpata recently joined the Labour Party (LP) in Edo State and indicated that he would like to run for governor in the state’s upcoming election.

When explaining his decision to enter politics, Akpata recently stated that he did so because he had grown weary of constantly whining about Nigeria.

He continued by saying that he made the decision to stop worrying about the issue and try to be the solution.
