On August 24, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, a New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) candidate for president in 2023, paid a visit to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in Abuja.

According to Anaedoonline.ng, this is the pair’s second encounter in recent memory.

Saifullahi Hassan, a media representative for Kwankwaso, tweeted images of the two that he said were taken yesterday in the presidential house in Abuja and confirmed the most recent meeting via Facebook.

The meeting, according to Hassan, was about matters of national importance.

According to Anaedoonline.ng, Kwankwaso’s most recent meeting with President Tinubu comes amid rumours that Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Kwankwaso of the NNPP, and Peter Obi of the Labour Party have started talking about the possibility of merging their respective parties in order to create a powerful organisation that can more effectively oppose the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

The meeting between these three political figures, which had been going on for a while, was said to have begun with the one between Kwankwaso and Atiku, the PDP presidential candidate.

After the first leg of the meetings was deemed successful, Obi, the Labour Party’s (LP) presidential candidate and face of the OBIdient Movement, and other critical elements in PDP started to take shape, after the other two stakeholders agreed to bring him in.

Two pillars had served as the foundation for the conversations, which were claimed to still be in the early stages.

However, according to reports, the three leaders have chosen to wait and see how the court rules on the election petitions, which will determine the second leg of their decision should the court’s judgement be unfavourable.
