Oyinkansola Sarah Aderibigbe, better known as Ayra Starr, a Nigerian musician, has expressed displeasure over the Headies Awards’ inability to publicly declare the prize category she won.

According to Anaedoonline.ng, several spectators and guests at the 16th edition of the award presentation at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre in Atlanta, USA, on Sunday expressed disappointment over the organisers’ choice to halt the ceremony in the middle of it and their inability to announce the winners of 13 categories.

Best Female Artiste, Best Recording of the Year, Songwriter of the Year, Best R&B Single, Best Vocal Performance (Female), Headies Viewers’ Choice, and Best East African Artiste of the Year are among the categories that have not yet been revealed.

The event’s organisers abruptly ended it without providing an explanation, although they later announced the unexpected awards on social media.

Ayra Starr, who was voted Best Female Artiste of the Year, responded to the development by saying she would never be appreciative of winning an unannounced category on stage.

The singer discussed how she and other female singers work hard in the music business and do not deserve such a careless attitude in the post she made on X, formerly known as Twitter.

She wrote: “I will never be grateful for winning a category thwasn’tn’t even deemed fit to be announced on stage ! Best female artist na beans”?
