By 3 p.m. on Monday, the Federal Government (FG) is scheduled to meet with the heads of organised labour, the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC).
The federal administration and the labour leaders are meeting in an effort to prevent the impending strike action throughout the nation.
During a continuing press briefing, Simon Lalong, the minister of labour and employment, made this announcement.
UPDATE: NLC To Shutdown Economy Next Week
He added that the reason he hadn’t met with the union leaders earlier today was because he hadn’t received sufficient briefings from the pertinent departments.
Lalong pleaded with the TUC and NLC leadership to persuade all of its affiliate unions to postpone their two-day strike and planned total shutdown in 21 days.
However, the NLC state chapters have begun organising their members in preparation for the two-day warning strike that will begin on Tuesday.
According to Anaedoonline.ng, the labour union announced on Friday that it would undertake a two-day warning strike beginning on September 5, 2023.
