Festus Keyamo, the minister of aviation and aerospace development, has criticised opponents who want to overturn President Bola Tinubu’s victory in the presidential election on February 25, 2023.

Those who disagreed with Tinubu’s victory were also urged by the minister to “have some sense” and support his (Tinubu’s) administration.

This comes after the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal affirmed Tinubu’s victory and dismissed the claims made by Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi, the presidential candidates for the Peoples Democratic Party and the Labour Party, respectively.

Kehinde Edun, the Labour Party’s legal adviser, vowed to appeal the ruling to the Supreme Court.

Atiku’s lead attorney, Chris Uche, SAN, added that his client had given him the go-ahead to appeal to the Supreme Court.

He said “The judgment has been delivered but we have not received justice. Luckily, the law has given us leverage to go on appeal to the Supreme Court. We have instructions from our clients to go to the Supreme Court. The struggle continues.”

The PEPT, which convened at 9.40 am at the Court of Appeal, Abuja, declared unanimously that Tinubu had won the February 25 presidential election and rejected the case submitted by Atiku, Obi, and their parties.

The challenges filed by Atiku and Obi challenging Tinubu’s election as president by the Independent National Electoral Commission on March 1, 2023, were dismissed by the five-member panel, which took turns doing so.

Justice Haruna Tsammani, the tribunal’s chairman, gave the decision with assistance from the other judges on the panel, Stephen Adah, Monsurat Bolaji-Yusuf, Moses Ugo, and Abba Mohammed.

However, in response to the decision, Keyamo wrote on X that the tribunal’s ruling proved him and others correct.

He wrote, “Today, Daniel has come to judgment: whether it is the fake US drug issue or the 25% FCT issue or the issue of IREV, EVERY SINGLE thing some of us have always shouted ourselves hoarse about during the campaigns and post-campaigns have been PROVED ABSOLUTELY RIGHT.

“Huge congratulations to @officialABAT for this judicial vindication from all the wicked lies against his person. Now, it is time for them to have some sense and embrace his government and national reconciliation!”
