The special investigator spoke with Aishah Ahmad, the deputy governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) for financial system stability.

TheCable claims that President Bola Tinubu appointed the investigator.

As the investigator looks into the bank’s financial records under suspended governor Godwin Emefiele, all of the CBN’s deputy governors are being questioned one after the other.

The platform states that the deputy governors are being asked to attest to their familiarity with a variety of decisions made by the bank over the last eight years.

The board of the apex bank is made up of the governor and the four deputies.

The investigating team’s office is located at the Department of State Services (DSS) headquarters in Abuja, where the deputy governors have been making appearances as the need arises.

TheCable reports that some people have received three invitations and have been handed documentation to establish whether they were aware of the transactions.

Jim Osayande Obazee, a former CEO of the Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria (FRCN), was chosen in July to serve as the special investigator.

The secret police and Obazee are questioning Emefiele on his management of the apex bank.

After Emefiele was initially arraigned on a weapons charge, a 20-count complaint with allegations of fraud was filed against him.

She is at home, according to a close friend of Ahmad, and the DSS did not detain her.

The source said, “I wish to reassure everyone that Aishah Ahmad is home with her family.”

In December 2022, the Senate confirmed Ahmad and Edward Adamu to serve as the CBN’s deputy governors.
