Gunmen Invade, Kill Three In Enugu Community

Masked gunmen who broke into the Agbada Nenwe community in the Aninri Local Council of Enugu State over the weekend killed three local residents.

According to information provided to The Guardian, the victims were a young man known as FM, one Kingsley, a machine parts trader located in the signboard section of the town, and Hillary Uche, a well-known block and cement dealer at Orie Agu, Emulemoke Agbada Road.

According to reports, the shooters followed the victims to their homes and places of business. Hilary was allegedly murdered inside his shop in Orie Agu, while Kingsley and FM were allegedly dragged from their homes and executed at the village square of Amagu Agbada Nenweto.

Sources said the hoodlums set a house ablaze after searching it without seeing their target.
The killings have since thrown the community into mourning and tension, as young men doing businesses in the village have started fleeing the place.

A village source said: “Some unknown gunmen invaded my village and brought out Kingsley and FM, dragged them to the village square where they were killed.

“Nobody knows who the people are. Some came in motorcycles, while some of our people said the men came in a vehicle. “Everyone is afraid of even going out. There is panic everywhere. This kind of thing has never happened before here.

“One of the persons they killed, Hillary, was shot three times in his shop at Orie Agu Nenwe. All the gunmen wore masks, suggesting that they may have come from around us here.”

Meanwhile, the police in Enugu have confirmed the report.Spokesperson for the command, Daniel Ndukwe, said: “Discreet investigation and manhunt operation are underway to fish out the yet-to-be identified armed hoodlums said to have shot and killed three male victims, in the wee hours of September 9, at Agbada Village square, in Nenwe community of Aninri Local Council. Further development shall be communicated accordingly, please.”
