Armed Forces of Nigeria Eliminate 151 Terrorists and Apprehend 456 Suspects in Recent Operations

The Defence Headquarters has reported significant success in the ongoing operations against terrorism and criminal activities in Nigeria. Over the past two weeks, the Armed Forces of Nigeria have managed to eliminate a total of 151 terrorists and apprehend 456 other suspects across various operations in the country.

According to Maj.-Gen. Edward Buba, the Director of Defence Media Operations, and the troops involved in Operation Hadin Kai made notable achievements during this period. They neutralized 44 terrorists, arrested 21 individuals, and successfully rescued four kidnapped hostages. Additionally, they recovered a substantial amount of weapons and ammunition, including rifles, locally made guns, and rounds of special ammo.

Furthermore, the troops arrested suspected terrorists’ collaborators in different regions, including Jere and Biu in Borno State, as well as Gujba Local Government Area in Yobe State. Ambushes and raids were carried out on suspected terrorists’ hideouts in the Konduga and Gwoza Local Government Areas of Borno, leading to the elimination of terrorists and the retrieval of arms and ammunition.

In the North Central region, Operation Safe Haven achieved significant results. Troops neutralized 16 terrorists, arrested 16 suspects, and rescued a kidnapped hostage. They also seized a significant cache of arms, ammunition, and firearms.

Operation Whirl Stroke, operating in the same region, recorded similar achievements. They neutralized 15 terrorists, arrested six individuals, and successfully rescued a kidnapped hostage.

In the North West, troops involved in Operations Hadarin Daji and Whirl Punch made remarkable progress. They eliminated 35 terrorists, arrested eight suspects, and rescued 17 kidnapped hostages. The air components of these operations continued to target terrorist hideouts with a series of aerial attacks.

These achievements highlight the dedication and commitment of the Nigerian Armed Forces in addressing security challenges and combating terrorism across the country. The efforts of the military, along with ongoing collaborations with various security agencies, are vital in ensuring the safety and security of the nation and its citizens.
