Shehu Sani, a former senator from Kaduna Central, responded to the travel advisory issued by the US government to its nationals cautioning them against visiting certain states in Nigeria.

Recall that the US government warned its citizens not to travel to select states that were classed as Level 4, the highest danger category, in a travel advisory warning released on Friday.

It also warned US people to avoid some states in Nigeria where there is a high risk of terrorism and kidnapping, noting that the security situation in Nigeria limits America’s ability to offer emergency services.

Except for Port Harcourt, the list also includes Abia, Anambra, Bayelsa, Delta, Enugu, Imo, Kano, Katsina, Sokoto, Zamfara, and Rivers.

Some crimes, like widespread terrorist activity, intercommunal violence, and kidnapping, are claimed to be common in the states mentioned above.

According to the advice, the security situation in the United States is chaotic and unexpected, and security operations to combat these threats could happen at any time.

Sani responded on Saturday via a tweet on his X (previously Twitter) account, expressing surprise that the US administration had omitted any states from the South West from the travel warning.

He wrote: “US travel advisory warning on Nigeria. Biden didn’t include any state from the South West, but please don’t call him Olubiden yet. Maybe there is a second list coming.”
