The All Progressive Congress (APC) North Central Forum has advised Nyesom Wike from exploiting his position as minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) to advance his bid for the presidency in 2027.

After an urgent meeting to evaluate and analyse the election tribunal ruling in the state, the chairman of the Forum, Saleh Zazzaga, said this over the weekend in Jos, the capital of Plateau State.

According to Zazzaga, the former governor of Rivers State continues to support the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in many of their initiatives and activities, especially in the post-election legal issues.

He warned Wike that they will not be hesitant to take many actions against him, including legal action, should his actions run counter to the interests of the APC. He urged Wike to come clean and declare which party he truly belongs to.

He said, “Reports reaching us suggest that some appointive office holders like Wike are still playing double games, since he is part of the APC by appointment, while he still remains a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

“We gathered he is still backing the PDP in many of their endeavours and activities, particularly in the post-election cases in the court.

“It is high time Wike comes out clean and takes a stand on the party he really belongs to, otherwise, should his actions run contrary to that of the APC’s interest, they will not hesitate to initiate several actions against him, including legal action.

“As someone who is holding an appointive position of the APC, a Lawyer by profession and someone reputed for doggedly fighting political-legal battles right from Rivers State, he (Wike) should come out strong and be seen to be supporting and strategising for victory for the candidates of the APC in the courts, at least in the North-Central Region, under which the FCT falls.”

As the North Central will be the first region to suffer the brunt and face the full heat of any unpleasant incident in the FCT, Zazzaga recommended Wike to exercise caution while implementing administrative policies that will have bad repercussions, such as land revocation, destruction, and other policies.

He claimed that the region already faces numerous difficulties, including security issues, and they would not want anything to make matters worse.

Additionally, he asked all Nigerians to support Tinubu, George Akume, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, all ministers, and those in appointment-only posts so that they might succeed in their responsibilities and deliver the dividends of democracy to the nation.
