Stephen Monday was remanded in the Nigerian Correctional Service yesterday by Justice Abiola Soladoye of a Lagos Sexual Offenses and Domestic Violence Court in Ikeja, Lagos, for allegedly defiling his lover’s four-year-old daughter.
The judge was remanded on Monday after entering a not guilty plea to the state government’s charge of defiling a minor. The defendant committed the offense on February 14, 2021, at around 5:00 a.m., at No. 5 Ayeloja Street, in the Ikorodu region of Lagos State, according to the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP), Dr. Babajide Martins, who testified in court at the defendant’s arraignment.

The prosecutor told the court that the defendant had carnal knowledge of the four-year-old girl by inserting his penis into her vagina. He said his offence contravened the provision of Section 137 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015.
Following his plea of not guilty, the DPP Martins prayed the court for a trial date. Consequently, Justice Soladoye remanded him in custody pending the perfection of his bail, and adjourned to November 9, for commencement of trial.
