Enoch Adeboye, the general overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), has withdrawn a prayer post made to Israel during its conflict with Hamas in Palestine after receiving criticism from netizens.

In a video message posted on the microblogging platform X on Wednesday, Pastor Adeboye prayed for the peace of Israel and the brethren.

Because of the prayers and the idea that God answers prayers, he predicted that the conflict would finish very soon, and sooner than expected.

On October 7, Hamas, the Palestinian political and terrorist force that now governs the Gaza Strip, invaded Israel and launched an unprecedented attack that killed over 150 Israelis.

In a goodwill message titled: “Special message to the nation of Israel”, Adeboye said all the members of the RCCG are praying for Israel to have “absolute victory” in the ongoing conflict.

“The almighty God, the only one of Israel, will give you absolute victory and give you permanent peace from now on in the mighty name of Jesus,” Adeboye had prayed in a video clip shared on the church’s page on X.

“It is going to be well with you. We pray that this war would be the one that would be end of all wars.”

However, the message did not sit well with netizens, who said that the war between Israel and Hamas is about land ownership rather than religion.

Others argued the general supervisor may not grasp the pain of Palestinians in the continuing conflict, while others accused him of being impartial throughout Nigeria’s political and security problems.

Following the uproar, a quick check by this newspaper reveals that the post, which had over four million views and hundreds of likes and comments, was removed.
