Elisha Abbo, a former All Progressives Congress (APC) senator who was removed from office, has revealed that Godswill Akpabio was not involved in his removal.

This occurred followed Abbo’s presentation to media at his residence in Abuja following his dismissal, in which he blamed his fate on Senate President Godswill Akpabio.

The Appeals Court’s Abuja Division overturned Abbo’s election as Senator for Adamawa North Senatorial District and replaced him with Amos Yohanna of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

During an interview with ARISE NEWS on Tuesday, Abbo stated that the press release they made earlier was premature because it was based on the knowledge they had at the time, but they had since discovered a lot of information.

He said Akpabio was involved in the court verdict against him, and that the Senate President had selected four further senators for probable removal through legal processes.

On the contrary, he has underscored that the senate president has no part in his troubles, stating, “I had a discussion with the senate president, my brother, my colleague, distinguished senator Akpabio, and I am convinced that he is not involved.

“This is because we met yesterday, and let me go by his word ‘Senator Abbo, I swear on my mothers grave that I am not involved in this.’”

“For a number three citizen to come up to tell me that he has sworn on his mother’s grave, a woman that he loves so much, a woman who brought him up after he lost his father at the age of six, I don’t see a reason why he would lie.”

Abbo also apologised to Akabio following their meeting and conveyed his support for the Senate President in his efforts to meet the needs of his constituents, as well as prayers for wisdom in his activities.

He also stated that there was no intention of impeaching Senate President Akpabio, but that “there was a plan to make him do what is right.”

Furthermore, Abbo branded the court verdict as judicial fraud, stating, “A judge gave a ruling on a ground that does not exist.”
