UPDATE: Tinubu Meets EFCC Chairman Ola Olukoyede

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu met with the chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mr Ola Olukoyede, behind closed doors on Wednesday.

On Wednesday, the Senate vetted and confirmed Olukoyede as chairman of the EFCC.

His confirmation came after President Bola Ahmed Tinubu nominated him.

Former EFCC Chairman Abdulrasheed Bawa resigned after President Bola Tinubu suspended him from office, alleging alleged abuse of office.

Mrs Halima Shehu, the National Coordinator and Chief Executive Officer of the Social Investment Programme Agency (SIPA), was among those confirmed by the upper legislative house.

Before they were confirmed following a three-hour screening, pertinent concerns, particularly on financial crime issues, were directed to Olukoyede.

Senator Ali Ndume of Borno South raised concerns about overlapping responsibilities with other comparable institutions, notably the National Financial Intelligence Unit (NFIU).
