Anambra State Police Command agents have taken into custody Obioma Okafor-Ama, also referred to as Alagbon, after he was found to have torn flesh from residents of the Nise Community in the Awka South Local Government Area.

After receiving a tip on October 19, Alagbon—who has long been wanted by the police—was eventually taken into custody by members of the Rapid Response Squad, Awkuzu, at his hiding place.

The arrest was verified by Anambra Commissioner of Police, CP Aderemi Adeoye, to NAN in Awka on Friday.

Adeoye added that following days of intelligence gathering, the culprit was apprehended in his hiding place in Nise by his men from RSS, Awkuzu.

He indicated that after the inquiry was finished, he would face charges in court. He was currently being held in custody.

Alagbon is said to be the leader of an infamous cult that has terrorised the town’s citizens and those of other settlements, killing and maiming its victims in the process.

“The notorious cultist and his gang have been on the wanted list of police for a long time.

“Alagbon is part of the group responsible for several cult-related killings in Awka.

“We are happy and jubilating when we heard the news of his arrest,” a source said.
