The present Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, lacks the parliamentary expertise that Senate Chief Whip, Senator Ali Ndume, has demonstrated.

Speaking on Sunday on Channels Television Sunday Politics, the Borno federal lawmaker clarified that he is not attempting to unseat Akpabio or work against him since he is unable to demolish the home he built.

Ndume stated that Akpabio ought to have asked him for a private conversation, given the recent incident on the Senate floor in which Akpabio declared him out of order when he attempted to correct the Senate President.

He felt that a Senate President ought not to defy his Chief Whip.

Ndume, however, claimed that it was time to pray rather than being angry that he had left the chamber after being declared out of order. He went on to say that people shouldn’t interpret the situation arbitrarily.

“My problem is the way he handled the situation and what happened the last time was misunderstood or taken out of context. Don’t forget that I fought here, campaigned for Akpabio. You can’t build a house and destroy it,” Ndume said.

“The main problem is that I’m more experienced than him. When I tried to correct him… you don’t overrule your chief whip.
