Because of increased threats, the US government has advised its people in Nigeria to stay away from big hotels in their nation.

On Friday, November 3, 2023, the US Embassy in Nigeria published an emergency notification for US citizens, advising them of the danger and stating that Nigerian security services are taking action to neutralise it.

It advised US citizens to be cautious while visiting upscale hotels, pay attention to their surroundings, maintain a low profile, and, before booking any accommodations, read the travel advisory for Nigeria.

The advisory reads: “The U.S. Government is aware of credible information that there is an elevated threat to major hotels in Nigeria’s larger cities.

“The Nigerian security services are working diligently to counter the threat.

“The U.S. Department of State advises U.S. citizens to consider this information when arranging lodging or visiting major hotels in Nigeria.”

In case any US citizens needed assistance, the message also included the locations and phone numbers of the US consulate in Lagos and US embassy in Abuja.

Remember how the United States of America warned all of its residents globally to travel with caution to different parts of the world in October?

The third level of warning alert (Reconsider to travel) was applied to Nigeria.
