The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has taken significant steps to bolster law enforcement efforts. These measures include the distribution of 220 operational vehicles, as well as various essential equipment to the states where the elections are set to take place: Bayelsa, Imo, and Kogi.

The Force Public Relations Officer at Force Headquarters, Abuja, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, made the official announcement, highlighting the importance of these security enhancements in preparing for the elections scheduled for November 11, 2023.

The newly allocated resources consist of water cannons, armoured personnel carriers, helmets, bulletproof vests, and tear gas canisters. These items are vital for equipping law enforcement agencies to handle a wide range of situations that may arise during the electoral process.

Moreover, the Inspector-General of Police didn’t stop at vehicle distribution alone. In recognition of the significance of well-trained personnel, he also arranged training sessions for police officers involved in election security management. This training is crucial in ensuring that officers are well-prepared to handle their duties effectively.
