Following the debate surrounding the 2023 Supplementary Budget, Prince Adewole Adebayo, the Social Democratic Party’s (SDP) presidential candidate for 2023, claimed that Nigerians were paying a price for supporting President Bola Tinubu.

According to Anaedoonline.ng, the Federal Government intends to spend N6.2 billion on automobiles for the State House pool and N2.6 billion on utility vehicles for the Presidential Villa in the supplemental budget.

The administration also disclosed intentions to spend N5.5 billion to purchase a Presidential Yacht, which will be supervised by the Nigerian Navy, and N5 billion on new automobiles for the First Lady’s Office.

‘We Need To Adopt Tinubu’s Style For 2027’ – Adewole Adebayo

In a Sunday interview with Daily Trust, Adebayo gave Nigerians advice on how to put up with the opulent and luxurious lifestyles of Tinubu and other political leaders because they voted for them.

Adebayo stated that leadership, not a shortage of funds, has always been Nigeria’s problem, and that the populace should recognise that a politician’s campaign style always represents his or her style of governance.

He said: “I have said many times that votes have consequences. If you are voting emperors, you will have imperial budgets.

“Did the expensive grand campaign they did show that they were coming to govern people who can hardly feed once or twice a day? We have to make up our minds what kind of government we want to run because this is an imperial system that is not supportable by the economic base and not supportable by the average livelihood of the Nigerian people.”
