The Inspector-General of Police, Olukayode Egbetokun, has declared that there will be no vehicular movement and the movement of canoes, ships, and other waterway transportation in Imo, Kogi, and Bayelsa states starting from Friday. This decision is part of the security measures put in place to ensure free, fair, and credible elections in these states.

Egbetokun has also prohibited certain state security outfits, including Ebubeagu and other quasi-security organizations, from operating during the electoral process. Marine and gunboats have been deployed in these states, taking into account their riverine terrain.

The IG emphasized that these three states have been reinforced with various security equipment, including helicopters for aerial patrols. These measures are aimed at ensuring the safety and security of the electoral process and all those involved.
