The NLC accused the Uzodimma administration of supervising the assault on Ajaero, but the administration disputed the claims.

In response to the attack on Ajaero, the NLC and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) have ordered the shutdown of vital services in Imo and launched a statewide strike beginning November 14, 2023.

On Wednesday, aviation unions in Nigeria urged their members to cancel all public and private Owerri flights (both inbound and outbound) effective at midnight.

The unions stated that the walkout will continue indefinitely until otherwise directed by the NLC and TUC.

“It’s surprising that an NLC president from Imo State will be hostile to my government,” he said.

The governor further stated that, contrary to the NLC’s accusations, there were backlogs of unpaid salaries that his administration had resolved.

According to Uzodimma, some workers were ghost workers, while others earned double pay before being caught and terminated.
