The suspension of the two-day nationwide strike by Organised Labour has prompted a response from the Presidency.
Presidential assistant Bayo Onanuga responded to the news on Wednesday night by writing on his X handle that the strike was needless.
Onanuga said that after speaking with important government representatives earlier today, organised labour agreed to call off the walkout.

He wrote: “The needless strike is over. NLC and TUC have called off their two-day strike, following talks with NSA Nuhu Ribadu and Labour Minister Simon Lalong.”
The national strike had reportedly been put on hold by Organised Labour, which is made up of the Trade Union Congress (TUC) and the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC).
According to Anaedoonline.ng, the National Security Adviser (NSA), Nuhu Ribadu, intervened at a joint National Executive Council (NEC) meeting when the leadership of the TUC and NLC decided to halt the industrial action.
Following negotiations with the Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration, the NEC decided to call off the strike.

The NEC meeting, which started a little after 7 o’clock at night, lasted about an hour during which time a number of affiliates and state chapters evaluated the conclusions of the discussion between Ribadu and the leaders of organised labour.
