The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) leader Nnamdi Kanu’s special counsel, Aloy Ejimakor, has charged that the Nigerian government is committing a “double offence” by arresting the agitator.

Detaining Kanu after subjecting him to extraordinary rendition from Kenya, according to Ejimakor, is a double crime.

According to the special counsel, this kind of offence is unacceptable.

In a post on X, he recounted how the 1984 miscast of Umaru Dikko had cost Nigerians entry to the UK without a visa.

According to Ejimakor: “In 1984, Nigerians lost their visa-free travel to the UK because of the botched rendition of Umaru Dikko & it was the rendition of MAZI NNAMDI KANU that got Benin Republic to protect IGBOHO.

“Detaining MNK after renditioning him is a double national offense that should not stand.”

The Department of State Services, or DSS, has been detaining Kanu since his arrest and rendition from Kenya in 2021.

The DSS has refused to release him even though court orders have ordered his release.
