Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has declared that his administration intends to stop Keke Napep, or tricycles, from operating in some parts of Abuja.

The Minister has also promised that Asokoro and Maitama will not be allowed to host Keke Napep operations, and that the problem of one-chance will be successfully handled in Nigeria’s capital city.

According to Wike, the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA) will soon offer buses and taxis as alternate forms of transportation in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) in an effort to address the region’s transportation issues and prevent criminal activity related to one-chance.

“These buses and taxis will ply all the routes in Asokoro and Maitama. We are kicking out Keke Napep at least in these areas. Some of these Keke Napep are agents of criminals,” Wike said while addressing Estate Developers and Residents’ Associations in the Federal Capita.

“If we have the buses, people will prefer to come from their areas, come to work, and go back,” the former governor of Rivers State continued.

The minister urged the locals to pay their taxes in order to assist the FCDA. Wike continued, “It is unpleasant, but we have to deal with it.”

Wike previously declared he had effectively saved N110 billion for the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) since taking office at a meeting with real estate developers in Abuja on Tuesday.

Furthermore, the Minister disclosed his plan to request President Bola Tinubu’s consent in order to add a National Identity Number (NIN) to every C of O that his administration issues, according to Naija News.
