Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has declared that he has no regrets about selecting Rivers State Governor Siminlalayi Fubara to succeed him.

During a Friday conversation with a limited group of journalists in his office, the former governor of Rivers stated that Fubara was the most qualified candidate among those who declared their intention to run for governor.

A day after taking office as governor, Wike said that the political system would have been overthrown if he had selected a different candidate than Fubara.

According to the minister for the Federal Capital Territory, his disagreement with his successor is an attempt to topple his political network and fire individuals who assisted him in becoming governor.

Remember that Fubara had declared that, in spite of the political unrest in the South-South state, his predecessor continues to be his principal?

The governor called the state’s current political crisis “a thing of the past” and reaffirmed his demand for peace, emphasising that the state can achieve it if the players and those who support them stay calm.

He had said: “My oga remains my oga. Whatever that has happened is in the past. I have not sent anybody to malign anybody.”

Fubara stated that despite the state’s difficult circumstances, the current political misunderstanding phase would end and the promises his administration made to the populace will be fulfilled.

In addition, the governor issued a warning to those endorsing him to refrain from disparaging his opponents by using foul language, stating that he had given them no permission to do so.

The devil will always try to hinder development, but it is crucial to “identify the devil and push it out,” in his words.
