Three Soldiers Arrested For Allegedly Stealing About 400 Ammunition Rounds

Due to their suspected involvement in ammunition theft, three soldiers from Operation Desert Sanity in Maiduguri, Borno State, have been taken into custody.

As far as Anaedoonline.ng is aware, the arrest happened during a covert operation that was carried out at the Maiduguri motor parks off of Njimtilo Road.

Two of the soldiers were on their way to Markudi, while the other soldier was heading to Abuja, a military source revealed to reporters. It was reported that one of the soldiers had hidden the pilfered ammo in a rice bag.

“On December 2, troops conducted a convert operations at motor parks and along Njimtilo Road at Njimtilo, three soldiers were arrested. One was en route to Makurdi with 250 rounds of 7.62 MM.

“Another en route to Makurdi was arrested with four fully-loaded magazines and 110 rounds concealed in a mudu of rice.

“The last soldier was going to Abuja. He was arrested with 14 rounds of 7.62MM. The suspects are in custody for further investigation,” Newsmen quoted the military source saying.

Maj. Gen. Buba Edward, the Director of Defence Media Operations, could not be reached for comment, the media platform said, and his calls were not returned.

Moreover, it stated that at the time this report was filed, he had not replied to a message about the issue.
