Journalist Rufai Oseni of Nigeria has denounced President Bola Tinubu’s involvement in the political unrest that has been engulfing Rivers State for a few weeks.

He claimed that, like Tinubu did when he was the governor of Lagos State, Governor Siminalayi Fubara ought to have been given the freedom to battle the federal government on the formation of new local governments.

According to Anaedoonline.ng, the conflict that has resulted in significant political unrest in Rivers State pitted Governor Fubara against Nyesom Wike, the current FCT Minister and his predecessor.

At a meeting at the State House in Abuja with the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike, Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara, former governor Peter Odili, and a few other stakeholders, the president resolved the situation.

Following the meeting in the Aso Rock Villa, the stakeholders reached and approved a few decisions.

Oseni, for his part, feels that several constitutional infractions were committed in the resolutions made to address the political issue in Rivers State, notwithstanding the fact that different reactions have followed the intervention and settlement.

The journalist said that breaking the nation’s constitution shouldn’t be the President’s fault.

In an appearance on Tuesday on Arise TV’s The Morning Show, he questioned the President’s order to reinstate State Assembly members who switched from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC), arguing that it violates the constitution’s defection clause.

Oseni questioned the decision to bring back Commissioners who had quit from Fubara’s cabinet as well.
