Atiku Abubakar, the former vice president of Nigeria, has declared his intention to run for president in the next general elections of 2027.
The Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) 2023 Presidential Campaign Organisation spokesperson, Daniel Bwala, made this declaration in a statement.
Bwala confirmed Atiku’s resolve in the face of past failures in his quest for the nation’s top job, declaring that Atiku will “certainly contest” once more.
“Sure, he [Atiku] would run,” Bwala told ChannelsTV.

“He has the capacity, he has the wisdom, he has the knowledge, he has the energy. And he is a president we never had.
“Because to be honest with you, if any politician understands the private sector very well, it is Atiku Abubakar and our economy can only come alive if there is a private sector-led economy,” he added.
Having run for president six times (1993, 2007, 2011, 2015, 2019, and 2023), the former vice president hopes to use his extensive background to his advantage in the future elections.
However, the statement coincides with internal PDP strife, with political analysts linking Atiku’s ongoing presidential aspirations as the cause of the party’s current predicament.
