According to the House of Representatives, President Bola Tinubu did not grant them N100 million to distribute as palliatives to their constituents.
This was revealed in a statement released on Friday by Rep. Akin Rotimi, the chairman of the House Committee on Media and Publicity.
But he disclosed that what the president had given them were bags of rice.

This is happening in the context of a widely shared video with Representative Dekeri Anamero claiming that President Bola Tinubu gave each member two trailers full of rice to give to their voters.
He states that the rice should be distributed to all of their constituents.
But according to Rotimi, the Speaker of the House of Representatives pushed for it in order to provide more palliative care for their citizens across the nation.
According to current public procurement legislation, this was the responsibility of the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, he stated.
He asserted that members may legitimately claim credit for providing relief to the public because they are politicians and may be seen during the distribution process.
