Former Foreign Affairs Minister Sule Lamido has advised Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike not to overrule the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in any way.

In a Sunday, January 28, interview with the publication ThisDay, Lamido recognised Wike as a party asset but underlined the importance of the party over personal ambitions.

Lamido stated, “Wike is an asset to the party, but he needs to be refined in his ways.

Lamido said, “So, I don’t think Wike should pocket PDP because you can’t pocket your own mother,” highlighting the party’s financial history. Prior to Wike, PDP was receiving funding and purchasing clothing to conceal its nudity.

The former governor of Jigawa State emphasised the necessity for party cohesion and warned against any person, even powerful ones like Wike, thinking of themselves as superior to the PDP’s group interests.

“If you say that you bought clothes or wrappers for your mother, does it mean that before you were born, your mother was without clothes?” he questioned.

Chief Bola Ahmed Tinubu appointed Wike as the FCT minister, which is the source of the current conflict within the PDP.
