by Victor Ndubuisi

The federal government renamed the Minna Airport in Niger State in honour of Chief Bola Tinubu. Binta Mamman, the state’s commissioner of information, made this remark on Sunday during a press conference at Government House in Minna.

Mamman also disclosed that Tinubu will formally inaugurate the airport’s renaming today.

When 15 airports nationwide were given names after well-known Nigerian figures, the airport previously had the name of the late Abubakar Imam.

Mamman added that when Tinubu visited Minna, he would supervise the commissioning of mechanised farming implements.

“All is set for the Niger State Government to receive President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in Minna, the state capital. During the President’s visit, he will commission the remodeled and upgraded terminal at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Airport,” she said.

Following the completion of the airport, Niger State is now well-positioned to play a significant role in the North Central aero hub, according to state governor Mohammed Umaru Bago.

He gave a speech after being named Grand Patron of the Niger State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) by the organization’s national leadership.
