Unexpectedly, Senator Abdul Ningi has submitted his resignation from his position as Northern Senators Forum (NSF) Chairman.

Ningi resigned in the midst of controversy over remarks he made recently about the 2024 budget, which he submitted in a letter to the Northern Senators Forum.

He announced his decision to resign in the letter, citing “unfolding events in the National Assembly, the north, and the nation at large” as the reason.

The nationwide controversy and dispute stemmed from the senator representing Bauchi Central’s allegations that the federal budget was inflated by an astounding N3 trillion. The NSF distanced itself from Ningi’s statements, calling them “personal opinions,” while the Presidency promptly refuted these accusations.
