An illicit weapons factory was discovered by the Nigerian Army’s 63 Brigade in the Onicha Olona hamlet of Delta State’s Aniocha North Local Government Area.

At the location of the illicit arms factory, Ugochukwu Unachukwu, a Brigadier General in the 63 Brigade, made this statement: “The factory can produce ten guns per week.”

He explained, “Eight suspects involved in the family business including the mastermind of the operation, his father, mother, and sister were among those arrested at the factory.

“The arms factory located in a forest has a surveillance post, a generating set connected from a remote location, an oven for melting of iron, and a cache of arms and ammunition.

“We have recovered items for the manufacturing of improvised explosive devices IEDs including shrapnels, detonators, and the container”

The army chief went on to say that a significant portion of the nation’s and the region’s insecurity was caused by the suspects’ actions.

Emmanuel Eboka, the key suspect, 22, acknowledged renting some weapons to criminal elements for predetermined sums of money.

The Commander disclosed that Ebuka had altered an AK-47 magazine to hold 60 rounds instead of the standard 30.

“Anybody that is involved in an act of insurgency that is against the peace and stability of Nigeria, we will get to you,” he added.
