Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani has stated that 137 pupils were kidnapped from Kuriga in the state’s Chikun Local Government Area, not 287 as was earlier claimed.

During an interview on Sunday Politics on Channels Television, he made this claim.

Governor Sani affirmed that the military, working with local officials from neighbouring Zamfara State, had successfully rescued all of the kidnapped pupils.

137 students had been safely recovered, according to a statement released by the Defence Headquarters on Saturday, confirming the success of the rescue effort.

Unfortunately, Governor Sani revealed that one of the instructors who was abducted with the students died as a result of issues that developed while they were in captivity.

He sent his sympathies to the teacher’s family who had passed away and comforted the families of the students who had been released from custody.
