Philip Shaibu Impeachment Panel To Commence Sitting April 3

The seven-member panel appointed by Chief Judge Daniel Okungbowa of Edo State to investigate the impeachment petition against State Deputy Governor Philip Shaibu has scheduled its first meeting for April 3, 2024.

According to Anaedoonmline.ng, newsmen in Benin City were provided with a statement dated March 28, 2024, in which George Odidi, the panel’s administrative secretary, revealed this information.

According to Odidi, the panel will convene at the Judges Conference Room of the New High Court Complex in Benin City, promptly at 10:00 a.m.

According to him, the complainant should be prepared to make its case and the parties or their solicitors should be present.

The statement reads, “Take notice that consequent upon the inauguration of the above panel by His Lordship the Hon. Chief Judge of Edo State, Hon. Justice D.I. Okungbowa in line with section 188 subsection 5 of the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999, the said Panel shall commence sitting at Judges Conference room, New High Court Complex, Benin City on Wednesday 3″day of April, 2024 at 10:00Am prompt.

“Parties and /or their counsel are expected to be present on that day while the complainant is expected to be ready to present it’s case on that day.”

Anaedoonline.ng reminds readers that, in accordance with a resolution passed by the State House of Assembly, Chief Judge Daniel Okungbowa of Edo State appointed a seven-member panel on Friday, March 22, 2024, to look into the charges contained in the notice of impeachment filed against the state’s deputy governor, Philip Shaibu.

The deputy governor received an impeachment notice from the State House of Assembly on March 6, 2024, due to accusations of malfeasance and lying.

Justice S.A. Omonua (rtd), Maríam Erakhoba Ilavbare, Oghogho Ayodele Oviasu, Surveyor Andrew Oliha, Idris Abdulkareen, President Aigbokhian, and Professor Theresa Akpoghome are among the panellists.
