The legal struggle over the late Biafra leader Dim Chukwemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu’s will has come to an end, with the Enugu State High Court handing it to his widow, Mrs. Bianca Ojukwu.
Judge A.O. Onovo presided over the court, which dismissed a petition filed by the late Chief (Dr.) Debe Odumegwu Ojukwu, who contested the will’s validity and claimed to be the deceased’s first son.
The late Debe Odumegwu Ojukwu, who claimed to be the first son of Dim Chukwemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, challenged the legality of his father’s will, arguing that he was not recognised, and attempted to prevent Mrs. Bianca Ojukwu from managing the estate.

Debe Odumegwu Ojukwu’s daughters, Nene Grace and Obianuju Sarah, carried on the court struggle after their father’s death in 2018.
Following an extensive review of the material, Justice Onovo gave a lengthy, two-hour ruling.
The court rejected Debe Odumegwu Ojukwu’s attempts to establish his biological fatherhood and rejected arguments regarding the will’s typographical problems and signatories’ veracity.
Furthermore, the court determined that because Debe Odumegwu Ojukwu’s children were unable to prove they were the deceased’s grandchildren, they did not have the legal standing to contest the will.

Consequently, the court confirmed Mrs. Bianca Ojukwu’s status as the legitimate widow and beneficiary and upheld the legality of Dim Chukwemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu’s will.
