A well-known member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers State named Dr. Peter George wrote an open letter to Nyesom Wike, the state’s former governor and current minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), warning him against meddling in politics and advising him to concentrate on his new position.

Dr. George stressed in the letter the need of letting go of authority with compassion and letting advancement happen organically.

Dr. George emphasised to Wike the fleeting nature of power and the fact that ultimate authority rests with a higher force.

He asked the outgoing governor to understand that Rivers State’s fortunes are inextricably linked to his legacy, good or bad. He did, however, issue a warning, saying that history will evaluate Wike’s policies objectively.

The letter Partly read, “Your successor, His Excellency, Siminalayi Fubara is not so much a drama king. A man of few words and a lover of peace. All he craved was an opportunity to serve and not a platform to fight.

“Your successor, His Excellency, Siminalayi Fubara is not so much a drama king,” the letter said in part. a man who loves quiet and uses little words. He didn’t want a stage to battle on; all he wanted was a chance to serve.

“From a humble background, he knows God has done so much for him, and any further step up the ladder can only be of God’s benevolence.

“Though your tenure as governor has expired, you do not need the vote of anyone to be an indigene of the State, and whenever the governor publicly seeks the support of all to succeed, he’s making a direct appeal to you and others as no one is more indigent than others.

“So concentrate on your new assignment and allow Governor Fubara to repair the damages you did to the psyche of our people continuously for eight years.

“No one is in a competition with you, not even Governor Fubara. Please calm down before you become a victim of your own insecurity,” the letter stressed.
